How to download your bank statement in under a minute

MuntLab ยท 9 min read

MuntLab doesn't link to your bank account โ€” you upload a statement instead, and it never leaves your device. That's a real trade-off: an app that reads your live feed updates itself, and an app that reads a file you export doesn't. You have to remember to do it.

The honest fix for that isn't pretending the step doesn't exist โ€” it's making the step itself fast. Once you know exactly where your bank hides the export button, downloading a month's transactions takes under a minute, and you can do the whole thing again next month without hunting for it a second time. Here's exactly where to look, for the three biggest Dutch banks plus three popular apps people increasingly bank alongside them: bunq, Revolut and N26.

ABN AMRO

Via: Mijn ABN AMRO, web browser
  1. Log in to Mijn ABN AMRO.
  2. Click "Zelf regelen" in the menu bar.
  3. Click "Bij- en afschrijvingen downloaden."
  4. Choose CSV (komma-gescheiden) as the format, pick your date range, and download.

Transactions are available up to 18 months back. Older than that, you can only get a formal account statement (rekeningafschrift), not a transaction CSV.

ING

Via: ING Bankieren app, or Mijn ING (web)
  1. In the app: select the account, tap the purple "Instellingen" button, scroll down to "Afschriften downloaden."
  2. On the web: log in to Mijn ING, click "Service" in the left menu, then "Af- en bijschrijvingen downloaden."
  3. Pick a preset period or set custom dates, choose CSV (or PDF if you'd rather upload that), and start the download.

Also available up to 18 months back. Both the app and web routes work equally well for MuntLab.

Rabobank

Via: Rabobank internet banking, web only
  1. Log in to Rabobank internet banking in your browser โ€” the CSV export isn't available inside the Rabo App itself.
  2. Go to "Download transacties/afschrift" and open the "Aangepast overzicht" tab.
  3. Choose CSV as the format, select the account, and set a start and end date.
  4. Click "Bestand downloaden."

The one real catch: Rabobank caps combined-account downloads at 3 months and single-account downloads at 12 months. If a download fails, it's usually because the range or number of accounts is too large โ€” shorten it and retry.

bunq

Via: bunq app, or web.bunq.com
  1. Open the bunq app and tap your profile icon in the top left.
  2. Select "Accounting" โ†’ "Export Statement" (or open the specific account's own settings and tap "Export statement" there instead).
  3. Choose the account and time period, and pick a format โ€” PDF, CSV or MT940.
  4. Tap "Export Statement." On web, log in at web.bunq.com, click the account, then Settings โ†’ Export statement.

One thing to know: bunq can't export a statement for an unverified account, so if the option is missing, verifying your identity in the app (a five-minute step) unlocks it.

Revolut

Via: Revolut app only โ€” no export on Revolut web
  1. Open the Revolut app and go to "Home."
  2. Below your balance, tap "Accounts" and select the currency account you want to export (e.g. EUR).
  3. Tap the "โ€ขโ€ขโ€ข" (More) menu and select "Statement."
  4. Choose your date range and a document type โ€” PDF or Excel โ€” then tap "Generate."

Revolut generates statements per currency account, so if you hold EUR and other currencies side by side, you'll export each one separately and upload both to MuntLab.

N26

Via: N26 app for monthly statements, n26.com for a custom range
  1. Monthly PDF, in the app: go to the "Finances" tab, select the account or Space, tap the gear icon, then "Balance statements," and pick the month.
  2. Custom range with CSV, on the web: log in at n26.com, choose the account or Space from Home, click "Downloads," enter a start and end date under "Account Activity," pick PDF or CSV, and download.

The N26 mobile app only offers monthly PDF statements โ€” CSV export and custom date ranges are web-only, so use n26.com if you want a clean CSV for MuntLab.

All six also let you export as PDF, which MuntLab reads too โ€” CSV is just faster to process and usually gives cleaner category detection. If your bank or app isn't listed here, MuntLab also supports SNS and ASN out of the box, and most standard CSV exports from other banks and fintech apps will work as well.

Make it a 20-second habit, not a monthly chore

The first export takes a few minutes while you find the button. Every one after that takes seconds, because you already know exactly where to click. A couple of things make it near-effortless from here: bookmark the download page directly (skip the menu-hunting entirely), and set a recurring reminder for whatever day you already check your finances โ€” right after payday works well for most people, since that's when a full month of transactions has just landed.

If it's still not fast enough on your phone specifically, MuntLab is installable as an app on iOS and Android home screens, and most banking apps let you "Share" an exported PDF statement directly into another installed app instead of saving it and hunting for it in your downloads folder afterward.

Upload your first statement โ€” free, just an email

Export steps verified against each provider's own support pages as of September 2026: ABN AMRO, ING, bunq, Revolut, N26. Apps and websites change their menus periodically โ€” if a step no longer matches what you see, check the provider's own current instructions.
